Hello VAPA Community! This is Dr. Trimis with a few announcements! Tuesday is a shortened day. Hola comunidad VAPA! ¡Este es el Dr. Trimis con algunos anuncios! El martes es un día acortado.
March is National American Red Cross, Arts Education, Middle Level Education, Multiple Sclerosis Awareness, Music In Schools, Nutrition, School Social Worker, and Women’s History Month. It is also Immigrant Month and this is Attendance Awareness Week. Lastly, employees and students of LAUSD are encouraged to show 17 Acts of Kindness this month.
Our School Site Council meets on Monday at 4 PM in Rm. D100. If you are a member, please be sure to attend; reaching a quorem is critical for this meeting.
This week we will have Parent Conference Night on Thursday from 4:45-6:45 pm followed by our evening Talent Show at 7 pm. For students this week, we will have an Arts, Advanced Placement, and Electives Fair during lunch on Monday. This is the opportunity to find out about all of our new course offerings and expectations before you sign up for classes.
Thank you to all of the juniors who came to school on Saturday for our special program to assist with math prep. There are upcoming programs in the English and Government PASS program and SAT workshops on Saturdays.
Congratulations to the following groups: Congrats to our Girls Basketball Team who have now ended their season going far in the State Championships Play-offs, making the final 8 in Sothern California and Runner-Up in the City Championships. Congrats to our Cheer Team who tied for 4th Place out of 10 teams competing from Local District East in the first LAUSD ever official CIF Cheer meet. Congrats to all of our students and their SRLA Team for a great run in the LA Marathon today.
We are in our Zone of Choice application season when potential 8th grade students make their high school choice through the Zone of Choice application process. We have space for more students. Please spread the word to family and friends.
A reminder to students to be aware of new clubs, auditions, and other opportunities by listening to morning announcements, fliers on our bulletin boards, and checking our website and social media platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook which are linked on the website at www.vapalegacy.com
