Hello VAPA Community! This is Dr. Trimis with a few announcements! This week we will have shortened day on Tuesday. Students will be released at 2:10 pm.
¡Hola comunidad de VAPA! Este es el Dr. Trimis con algunos anuncios! Esta semana habremos acortado el día martes. Los estudiantes serán dados a conocer a las dos y diaz en la tarde.
Tomorrow, Monday, August 21, for the first time since 1998, a solar eclipse will be visible on a path across the United States. In Los Angeles, we will experience a partial eclipse from approximately 9 am until noon. Please be aware that looking directly at the sun is unsafe and can cause permanent eye damage or other unknown effects. We encourage you to speak with your child about the risks of looking directly at the sun.
A reminder to our students that our new start time is 8:30 am. ALL students should be in class and in their seat when the bell rings at 8:30 am. Any tardy students must get a late slip from the Welcome Center. Parents should be expecting calls from the school if their child is late and we will start our detention and tardy sweep program soon. We are going in to Week 2. All students should be used to the schedule and I would expect with a later start, tardiness should not be an issue. In the next few weeks we will be holding grade-level meetings to discuss school expectations including being on-time and dress code.
There are several auditions for performing groups and shows this week as well as several informational meetings for our various sports at Legacy. I encourage you to contact any coach of teams or director of groups to get more information and find out about auditions or try-outs. Monday after school will be Dance Team auditions in the Dance Studio at 3:20 pm, Tuesday will be auditions for our A Cappella and Jazz Singers in Rm. D100 at 7:30 am, Thursday will be auditions for the Fall Musical Theatre Workshop production of “Real Life” at 3:30 in the MPR with info meetings on Tuesday at lunch and Wednesday at 3:30 pm in the MPR, and Glee Club will meet for the first time this year on Thursday at lunch.
