The command to love is essential to the believer’s life. Love is the lifeblood of our faith. Without such a command, our faith would be no different from any other religion. It is the extended love of God through Christ dying on the cross that allows believers to experience such freedom.

Christ’s sacrifice on the cross is the greatest and most intense demonstration of love ever shown towards humanity. Without such an example, man’s inferior acts of love will fall short of God’s standards, but because of it, mankind will not only experience this love but is able to extend this love to others. What great depths Christ went through to extend this love to the world.
