Weekly Updates
October 20, 2019
Hello VAPA Community! This is Dr. Trimis with a few announcements! Monday is a late-start day. Hola Comunidad VAPA! ¡Este es el Dr. Trimis con algunos anuncios! El lunes es un día de comienzo tardío.
Thank you to all of our students, teachers, and staff who assisted with last week’s myriad of activities from our professional development to the administering the PSAT to all of our 9th and 10th graders and some 11th graders, to our earthquake drill, to the Homecoming Pep Rally, Football Games, and Dance on Saturday. And thank you to our teachers who have been so supportive of our students while implementing our instructional program with fidelity during such a hectic week!
This week we will have our Fall Student-Led Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday from 5 to 7 pm. This is an opportunity for parents and guardians to check their student’s progress in every class. It is critical we have all of our parents participate. Our goal is every student pass all of their classes with a C or better, but realize the the best grades are what is needed for students to be competitive in their college applications.
The deadline for Household Income Forms is soon. We need to collect these forms from every household because thousands of dollars in federal and state funding is at stake if we do not submit them to the district. Funds for teacher assistants, educational field trips, classroom funding, and funding for teachers to lower class size, and other staff are all at ricks for being cut if we do not get the forms in. Please note your responses are entirely confidential and the forms are only used to verify our school as a whole is eligible for the thousands of dollars we receive in categorical funds. We still have almost 100 forms to collect as of tonight.
We also need to have all of our senior contracts returned signed this week.
Lastly, this month eighth graders and their parents in our community are selecting their high school through the Zone of Choice process. Please spread the good news about Legacy VAPA so we can maintain our enrollment and continue to offer all of the excellent programs we offer.
Please go to our website for more information at www.vapalegacy.com. Social media links are also found on our website.
That’s it for now, have a great week and I'll see you at school!
Take Care,
Dr. Edward Trimis, Principal
