Hello VAPA Community! This is Dr. Trimis with a few announcements! Monday is a late-start day.
¡Hola Comunidad VAPA! ¡Este es el Dr. Trimis con algunos anuncios! El lunes es un día de inicio tardío.
Our new Parent and College Center in Rm. 116 will have a grand opening this Thursday, immediately followed by Coffee with the Principal, at 9 am. I hope you can join us! Parents should go to the Parent Center for our workshops and events and to get info on volunteering or any other questions about school. Students should visit the College Center on a regular basis for info on scholarships, financial aid, and upcoming tests as well as to meet with representatives from different colleges and universities.
The Smarter Balanced Assessments are coming soon! Many teachers will be working with our juniors to get them ready! All juniors should plan on attending our College Prep Math sessions from 8 am to 12 noon on March 7, 14, 21, and 28. See Dr. Trimis if you have a conflict because of Legacy or VAPA performances and find out about your options. Our math teachers have more information.
We are developing our budget and designing our matrix and master schedule for next year. This is the time for all of our stakeholders to let us know what you want to see at VAPA in student supports, programs, ans classes. Our school is based around what our students need and what our community wants, so please let us know your thoughts.
There is a sign-up form in the VAPA office for students who are planning to perform in the Senior Recital this year or present and defend a portfolio. All students who participate will receive a special Arts Honors Cord for graduation and may audition for the Honors Performance at the Senior Awards Gala.
Another reminder for seniors, Graduation this year will be at the South Gate Municipal Auditorium at 12 noon on Saturday, June 13.
