The Holidays are coming!
· Halloween is just days away and that kicks off the season of over indulgence, candy, cookies and feasts
· If you are struggling with food and weight loss this time of year is extremely draining
o You feel like you are missing out
o Depression spikes and can cause us to spiral out of control
o There’s guilt associated with not participating in the festivities
Holidays don’t have to be stressful (well not when it comes to your fitness.) Here are a few strategies that have worked for myself and my clients.
· Calling back to my last podcast, Stay constant.
o Don’t lose your structure. We all get a little off track but keep hitting your workouts.
o Lean on your support (trainer, class-mates, gym buddies, people in your online group)
o Consider tracking your food again, don’t go overboard if this is going to cause stress. The easiest app for my clients is at www.myfitnesspal.com
· Give your self-permission to participate
o Go into Holidays with a mindset of abundance, eat a little cake, put a little, of everything on your plate for that special holiday meal and enjoy time with your friends and family.
o Keep the goal in mind. You are working toward a healthy life. That meals finding balance.
o One or two days will not completely destroy your month.
· Set your expectations
o The more you indulge, the slower your progress, adjust accordingly.
o Set a goal to keep the needle moving in the right direction.
· Don’t Binge
o Food is a large part of social interaction in the US you can participate without eating 3 servings. Stuffing yourself so much you have to unbutton you pants.
