Weird "100W" LED bulb with novel construction

Listen Later

This is definitely a cost optimized design. From the strange concertina style heatsink to the absolutely basic LED panel this unit is the epitome of a disposable item.

On a plus note, there are two separate LED and regulator circuits, so if one LED section goes open circuit the unit will still light at half the intensity, and the reduction in heat may prolong the life of the remaining LEDs.

While the LED panel is very typical of modern lights, the heatsink is possibly the first I've seen in this style. It is formed from thin aluminium sheet that has been punched and formed to give it rigidity and also create interlocking tabs. Then a machine must stack and lock the plates before the whole assembly gets speared onto locking spikes and spacers on the base.

It came from AliExpress, but the 100/120Hz flicker means I'd only recommend buying it as a novelty.
