These experiments can so easily be done at school. It is a bit like Doctor Who in which ordinary objects are connected together and the Doctor mutters gibberish and then extraordinary things happen. The key one (of a few) here is the Bunsen in the centre of a 1 m copper rod. Heat is swept up the rod by an electric current.
