As we set about breaking in 2013, some of us have already decided that we need to make some changes in our lives. The typical changes we think about are losing weight, getting in better shape, picking up a new hobby and putting more money in the bank for a rainy day " those kinds of things. And, all these things would probably be good for us " if we actually do them! But New Years Resolutions are rarely kept, because, behind that resolution is the understanding that, to really be perfect, we need to be something were not currently. But if none of us can be perfect, whats the point in all that work? Well, our text for this morning offers us a glimpse into an amazing gift from God to each of us: we dont need to be perfect. Our text says, To all who believe in Christ, He gives us the right to become Children of God. See, its not our weight or how much that is in our bank account that is important to God; its what we are becoming! Is that who and what we are? Flawed people who have been claimed by Christ who are on a journey to BECOME Children of God? If so, I think just maybe thats perfect enough! Happy, NOT perfect, 2013!
