Welcome to "A Slow Journey through John"

Listen Later

Welcome to a Slow Journey through John by the Wild Way, a year-long daily podcast designed to help you abide, learn, and go.

What’s your daily experience with God like? Does he feel close, or far away? When Jesus says, “My peace I leave with you,” do you feel that abiding, ever-present peace?

Many of us wish we had a deeper, more stable sense of connection with God, and often the Bible is one of our “go-to” places for this connection. However, when we approach Scripture to meet with Jesus, we often zip through our reading without really slowing down to consider how the text speaks to us, and we stay on the surface rather than examine the original language and culture, and then we walk away without a plan of how we will put the day’s Scripture into practice in our daily life.

At the Wild Way, we want to help you change that. SJTJ is a year-long contemplative journey through the Gospel of John where we use Scripture, reflection, and intentional practices to pause, listen, and respond to God’s love in transformative ways. We slow down to listen to God speak into our hearts so that we may enter the depths of God’s love, grow into people of love, and go out to be a compassionate presence in our world.

Weekdays are 10-12-minute devotionals where you abide in the presence of Jesus and the Word of God, learn by studying the Scriptures, and go with intention to love the world. Each weekend, we release a short prayer of examen and a longer teaching podcast that more deeply explores the themes and implications of John.

Spend a year with us in the book of John, learning about and deeply meditating on Jesus, the image of the invisible God, the Word of God in human form, the Light of the World. We believe your daily exposure to Jesus in John’s gospel will be transformational.

345 episodes is a big commitment, so why not start with chapter 1 and see where it goes from there? Perhaps this is just what you need in this season of your life. See you in episode 1.
