Welcome to Conversations with Grace, with Mind Over Matter with VeddaJo, I am so excited to be able to share with you some encouraging words to remind you that you have been gifted with the power of grace to overcome difficult conversations.

I remember starting my career in the healthcare field and learning how to communicate with professionals was new ground for me. Sure, I know how to speak to people, but how to be an influence on people and respect them at the same time was a skill I wasn’t taught in college. It only came by my experience with people that drove me to the point to want to share with others, how to handle difficult conversations. This skill of handling difficult conversations, helped me to achieve promotions from an administrative assistant making $26,000 a year to a Program Analyst making well over six figures a year. I am living in my second home; with the drive to look to purchase my third home in the next year. Now, it took me a while to learn this skill, but you don’t have to take the long road as we deal with your emotions in the mini-course.

As a single parent, raising two girls, handling difficult conversations was important. It helped me to raise my daughters into beautiful women, with their careers and the ability to live independently, because of the one thing I shared with them. If you want to achieve something in life, learn to communicate well. Set your mind to do it, work through the process, get up from your failures learning from them, but keep on going because we have been graced, by God, to live in abundance.

I’m not necessarily talking filthy rich, I’m talking joy, satisfaction, and not struggling from paycheck to paycheck. Working hard, being consistent, and trusting God to manage your access to the right doors, will bring you more joy than riches ever will. So, to oneself be true, respectful, and know what you want and get to work.

Handling difficult conversations is a skill and it must be learned. Effective communication is the cornerstone of great relationships. Whether you’re communicating with friends, family, coworkers, your partner, or even strangers, everything goes smoother with effective communication. You get more of what you want and the other party is happier too. Even difficult conversations - when handled with grace and composure - can be beneficial to your relationships.

In this mini-course, we will discuss 7 secrets to handling difficult conversations. Please know that these are based on my experience, but your outcomes will be based on your situations:

1. Face the issue as soon as possible.
2. Prepare before the conversation.
3. Decide what you want to accomplish.
4. Give yourself time to calm down before you discuss the issue.
