Katie here, the Founder of BLYNK social: a design and social media agency founded in 2020. It’s where bold brands come to make a statement with playfully professional design and hyper-authentic social media content. We take pride in working closely with BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and Women Led brands and we wouldn't have it any other way. BLYNK is a safe space for ALL to take the steps to build the brand of their dreams while having a ton of fun along the way. I’ve been in the creative freelance space full time for about three years and I’ve experienced first hand the power social media can have on your brand. Here’s the kicker: I didn’t go to design school and am self taught in all things brand design and social media strategy. Its been working out just fine for me thanks to my bestie boo Youtube. My goal is to expand BLYNK to a full service creative agency with people chasing the same dream as me, to live life on their own terms in the name of creative freedom! This is where Kaitlyn comes in!
Yes that’s me! On the other end of the spectrum of creative professionals, I attended design school and did receive more of a framework of knowledge in regard to the formal developments of branding identity, UI and UX design, and the introduction of incorporating different softwares and technologies into my workflows. As much as I would not trade my experiences in design school for anything in the world, school can’t prepare you for the constant changes and adaptability skills required to survive and thrive as a creative professional outside the classroom walls. When I joined the BLYNK team at the end of 2022, I was able to learn and see real-life examples of how to navigate creative professional practices and develop healthy work life balances as a designer working for herself and keeping up with the trends and tools for maximum productivity and client conversion.
We wanted to create this podcast to have candid convos about real-life experiences in the freelance design space and how they affect the experience of Gen Z creatives, like ourselves, taking their passions into the professional world.
We don't have all the answers, which is why we are so excited to bring on experts and newbies alike across all niches of design, social media, and digital marketing to hear about their experiences of what makes the life of a creative so dynamic and lucrative in this ever changing design world.
