What happens when Scripture, submission, forgiveness, sex, or church authority are used to keep a woman afraid, silent, or under someone else’s control?
Being a biblical wife does not mean enduring abuse. Submission is not domination. Forgiveness is not unlimited access. Marriage is not automatic sexual consent. And seeking safety is not rebellion against God.
In this episode of Well-Made Woman, Mandy talks about the ways abuse can hide inside Christian marriages and church communities, especially when spiritual language is used to manipulate, intimidate, or control.
Drawing from nearly three years serving in marriage ministry, Mandy also challenges the Church to recognize the difference between an ordinary struggling marriage and an abusive one, respond wisely when a woman discloses abuse, and refuse to protect reputations, ministries, or appearances at the expense of people.
We talk about biblical headship and submission, the story of Abigail and Nabal, forgiveness versus reconciliation, what genuine repentance looks like, sexual coercion inside marriage, and why Jesus, not a husband, pastor, or church leader, is ultimately Lord.
If you have ever wondered whether telling the truth, setting a boundary, asking for help, saying no, or getting somewhere safe makes you a bad Christian wife, this conversation is for you.
And if abuse is not part of your story, this episode still matters.
Because someday a woman may trust you enough to tell you hers.
Abuse is not biblical. Control is not headship. Fear is not submission. Marriage is not automatic sexual consent. And Jesus never asked you to carry someone else’s abuse to prove your faithfulness to Him.
