Well With My Soul - Part 20 (7.25.21)

Listen Later

John 4:35-38 (NIV) – [35] “Do you not say, ‘Four months more and then the harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. [36] Even now the reaper draws his wages, even now he harvests the crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. [37] Thus the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’ is true. [38] I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor.”
1. The harvest is ripe.
John 4:36 (NLT) – [36] The harvesters are paid good wages, and the fruit they harvest is people brought to eternal life.
John 4:35 (MSG) – [35] “As you look around right now, wouldn't you say that in about four months it will be time to harvest? Well, I'm telling you to open your eyes and take a good look at what’s right in front of you. These Samaritan fields are ripe. It’s harvest time!”
John 3:16-17 (NIV) – [16] “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”
2. The harvest is now.
2 Corinthians 6:1-2 (NIV) – [1] As God’s fellow workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain. [2] For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.
3. The harvest requires teamwork.
1 Corinthians 3:6-9 (NIV) – [6] I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. [7] So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. [8] The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor. [9] For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building.
John 4:39 (NIV) – [39] Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony…”
4. The harvest needs workers.
Matthew 9:35-38 (NIV) – [35] Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. [36] When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. [37] Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. [38] Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
