Welcome to Episode 001 of Becoming Natural. They say to start messy, so there is nowhere to go but up. In this first episode, I’m introducing myself, sharing my story, and explaining why I went from “No way” to “OK” when it came to starting this podcast. I’m Penny Sampler — a regular mom with big faith, three incredible boys, two very entertaining dogs, a wonderful husband, and a long history of surprising my doctors. Before Becoming Natural began, I spent more than 25 years walking through chronic illness, Crohn’s disease, surgeries, medications, unanswered questions, and a recovery journey that changed the way I saw the body. I’m also an occupational therapist and former pharmaceutical representative, so I’ve lived inside the medical world from more than one angle. This episode is about the wellness mindset that grew from that story. It is not about being anti-medicine, chasing perfection, or throwing everything in your house away overnight. It is about asking better questions, learning how the body was designed to heal, making small sustainable changes, and becoming a better friend to your body one step at a time. 📖 Read the full episode + resources: https://becomingnatural.com/becoming-natural-intro/ In this episode, you’ll hear about: - why I started Becoming Natural - my long journey with Crohn’s disease and chronic illness - how occupational therapy shaped the way I see healing - why my pharmaceutical background gave me a unique perspective - why I began asking deeper questions about food, medications, toxins, stress, plants, and faith - why small steps matter more than panic or perfection - what you can expect from future Becoming Natural episodes If you are tired, overwhelmed, curious, or simply ready to understand your body in a deeper way, I’m so glad you are here. Bring your questions, your sense of humor, and maybe a little bit or a whole lot of Jesus. Let’s get this journey started.
