Kim Carruthers
Increasing concern about America’s childhood obesity problem inspired Kim Carruthers to begin her non-profit program Pilates in the ‘Hood. The program is currently featured in many of Los Angeles’ urban elementary schools and Boys and Girls Clubs. Pilates in the ‘Hood recently partnered with the L.A. Care Health Plan, a community accountable health insurance plan. The program seeks to bring health and awareness to inner cities communities.
Kim started her career as a professional dancer, performing with Alvin Ailey and other New York City based dance companies. Kim obtained Pilates certification at The Pilates Studio 1997. A graduate of The Healing Arts College, Kimberley is a certified and licensed massage therapist and has been certified with the American Council on Exercise since 1997.

LeGeorge Mauldin
Le George Mauldin has been playing tennis for 27 years. A native of Los Angeles, Le George is known and widely respected and heralded for his ability to teach both adults and youth the art of playing tennis.
A high performance master tennis instructor who has trained with tennis super stars Venus and Serena Williams, Le George is currently an instructor at the Venus and Serena Tennis & Tutorial Academy and the Rancho Cienega Tennis Shop at the Arthur Ashe Tennis Center of L.A. Among his coaching accomplishments are having several of his students regularly compete in the USTA Southern California.
As a master instructor, Le George is available for both private and group lessons for adults and youth and day and evening classes.

Dawn Strozier
Dawn Strozier started the Fight Against Obesity Foundation after a stint with her own health problems at age 19. She had been on the “Standard American Diet (SAD),” she said, until severe digestive problems landed her in the hospital.
Strozier stresses the importance of proper nutrition along with exercise as the most effective way to fight obesity. She starts with the kids, she said, who in turn can encourage parents to adopt better habits.
The Aerobics room is open six days a week and is a community gym.
