Color Temperature
A scale used to measure one component of color: its hue on a warm-cool scale. Measured in Degrees Kelvin, it refers to “warm” colors (reddish) to “cool” (bluish). Industry standard for electric lights include 5500ºK (“daylight”) and 3200ºK (“tungsten”). The color temperature of daylight can range widely from upwards of 20,000ºK on a very cloudy day (very blue) to below 2000º at sunrise or sunset (very red).
