Often we can confuse niceness and pleasantness with Charity. But niceness never seeks to correct for fear of giving offense. Charity does correct and fiercely at times too. Often instead of seeking after charity with one another, we settle for niceness out of fear. 
But that's not the Gospel and that's not what Jesus asks us to do.
