Westside Baptist Church

This sermon explores the biblical theology of shepherding, tracing the imagery from God as the Chief Shepherd in the Old Testament to Jesus as the Good Shepherd who lays down His life for the sheep. The central text, Acts 20, presents Paul's farewell charge to the Ephesian elders, emphasizing their responsibility to feed the flock with the Word and protect them from false teachers and external threats. The message clarifies the distinct roles of male pastors as under-shepherds appointed by God, while also affirming the congregation's duty to submit to their leadership and hold them accountable. It addresses the tension between trusting in God's sovereign care and navigating the realities of human fallibility in church leadership. Ultimately, the sermon calls believers to follow the voice of the Chief Shepherd, trusting that He has established faithful men to guide them toward spiritual maturity and protection.
