But first, the latest edition of Deep Dive:

This is Deep Dive: WFHB and Limestone Post Investigate where we look into issues regarding Health, Housing, and the Environment that directly impact residents of Monroe County. For this series WFHB and the Limestone Post collaborated with the IU Arnolt Center for Investigative Reporting. We continue our coverage, looking into the refugee crisis, how this global emergency is playing out here in Indiana, and how individuals are able to find refuge in Bloomington.

In August of 2022, the IU Center for Research on Inclusion and Social Policy, also referred as CRISP, produced a report on Refugee Resettlement in Indiana. They conducted in depth interviews with service providers to learn about barriers refugees face and strategies to address these issues.

WFHB News spoke with two of the Policy Analysts, Nidhi Arun and Kristi Schultz, who highlighted issues that refugees face including language barriers, affordable housing, transportation and employment. Shultz explained that the report was conducted in 2022 when there was an influx in refugees arriving from Afghanistan.
