Listen Later

This is the WFHB Local News for Wednesday, August 28th, 2024.

Later in the program, we have the fourth and final edition of our series regarding Indiana refugees on Deep Dive: WFHB and Limestone Post Investigate. More in today’s feature report.

Also coming up in the next half hour, “The Big Don’ts” on Better Beware – your weekly consumer-watchdog segment on the WFHB Local News.

But first, the latest edition of Deep Dive:

This is Deep Dive: WFHB and Limestone Post Investigate where we look into issues regarding Health, Housing, and the Environment that directly impact residents of Monroe County. For this series WFHB and the Limestone Post collaborated with the IU Arnolt Center for Investigative Reporting. We continue our coverage, looking into the refugee crisis, how this global emergency is playing out here in Indiana, and how individuals are able to find refuge in Bloomington.

WFHB News spoke with Lubna Qazi, the resettlement director for the Bloomington Office of Exodus Refugee Immigration. Qazi shared the challenges refugees and asylum seekers face when seeking refuge in Indiana, such as language, housing and healthcare. Qazi stressed the need for more resources, especially in healthcare and mental health, to better assist refugees.
