On Labor Day – September 1st, 2025 – hundreds of demonstrators gathered for the Workers Over Billionaires protest – a nationwide campaign focused on income inequality and the “billionaire takeover” of the U.S. government. The local chapter of the 50501 Movement organized the protest, a group that has formed in reaction to the current presidential administration. WFHB News attended the protest and spoke with organizers and community members about what the protest means to them.
On Saturday, August 23, 2025 – Kirkwood Avenue was blocked off in downtown Bloomington for the 11th annual Pridefest. This festival brought out thousands of people celebrating LGBTQ+ lives and the fight for liberation. WFHB News Correspondent Ella Cummings speaks with various groups and attendees about what pride means to them.
