This is the WFHB Local News for Wednesday, January 28th, 2026.
In today’s newscast, you’ll hear from Jillian Chavis from Best Buddies, pairing college students with people with disabilities. Bloomington is home to the Best Buddies annual international leadership conference. We’ll hear more about Best Buddies and other organizations tabling at the recent Winter Involvement Fair for IU students at the top of the show in a feature report.
Also coming up in the next half hour, WFHB News Correspondent Paige Zuckerman speaks with Student Press Program Officer Dominic Coletti from the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression regarding IU’s expressive activity policy.
Featured Segments:
Indiana University Bloomington is home to nearly 800 registered student organizations and clubs. Some of them are trying to make a difference in B-town and beyond. Some are trying to help people who feel like outsiders find their community. During the first week of this semester WFHB sent dozens of reporters to the Winter Involvement Fair to seek out these stories in a report produced by the Audio Storytelling class in The Media School. We go on-location now to the Indiana Memorial Union to hear from nearly a dozen student groups trying to be the change they want to see in the world.
A federal judge ruled that IU’s expressive activity policy violates the First Amendment. WFHB News Correspondent Paige Zuckerman sits down with Dominic Coletti, the Program Officer for FIRE’s Student Press Freedom Initiative to discuss more. That interview is coming up next on the WFHB Local News.
Up next, “Who’s Looking at You?” on Better Beware – your weekly consumer-watchdog segment on WFHB. We turn to host and producer Richard Fish for more.
