But first, your daily headlines:

Bloomington Board of Public Works

The Bloomington Board of Public Works met this Tuesday, June 2nd. During the new business section, a noise permit application for night-time construction work was requested from the Bloomington Board of Public Works director Adam Wason on behalf of James Hall with Bloomington City Utilities.

The board passed the motion.

During the staff report, Bloomington Board of Public Works Director Adam Wason talked about the supercell storm two weeks ago.

Wason then went on to discuss the brush clean-up.

The next Bloomington Board of Public Works Meeting will be held on Tuesday, July 16th.

During the July 1st meeting of the Bloomington Utilities Services Board, Capital Projects Coordinator Kevin White introduced a change order with Crider and Crider, Inc. to place 24 inches of shot rock in the existing basin at the Winston Thomas Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Board Member Molly Stewart asked about the remainder of the sewage basin allowance at the end of the project. White responded that if there were no future change orders, the sewage basin allowance would sit around 762,000 dollars.

Another board member inquired about the intended use of the area. White clarified the future use of the location.

The board approved the change order by a unanimous vote. The Bloomington Utilities Service Board will meet again on July 15th.

Feature Report:

Up next, we hear from John Aumage of Brown County St. Vincent De Paul who tells us about their summer services to help the community. This comes from the Brown County Hour – WFHB’s arts and culture show produced out of Nashville, Indiana. We now to Brown County Hour Contributor Sarah Lyttle for that interview.

In today’s feature report, local journalist Dave Askins of the B Square Bulletin provides an editorial about paper procedures being resilient during times of a computer outage. We turn now to that segment on the WFHB Local News.

When Amalia Shifriss was a kid, Boy Scouts of America was “no girls allowed.” Today, Amalia is a staff member of the local Hoosier Trails Council of BSA, and she’s on a mission to bring females and nonbinary youth into the organization. Soon Boy Scouts of America will officially change its name to Scouting America. Amalia is here to do a little “scoutreach” on a new edition of Activate!, coming your way right now on the WFHB Local News.
