This is the WFHB Local News for Wednesday, March 5th, 2025.
Later in the program, WFHB News Correspondent Laurie Frederickson reports on how federal immigration policy impacts us here in Bloomington. More in today’s feature report.
Also coming up in the next half hour, “Invest and Regret” on Better Beware – your weekly consumer-watchdog segment on the WFHB Local News.
Feature Reports:
Immigrant and refugee communities across Indiana are facing heightened uncertainty as new state and national policies take effect. In Bloomington, organizations like the Refugee Support Network and Exodus Refugee are witnessing firsthand the devastating impact these changes are having on families. With more than 400,000 immigrants and refugees in the state, many are now grappling with fear over the future. In Part 1 of this story, we explore the immediate effects of new legislation and executive orders, and how local leaders are responding to help those most vulnerable. WFHB News Correspondent Laurie Frederickson has more.
In Bloomington, one resident is making a name for himself—by dressing as Batman. While he’s not actually patrolling the streets of Bloomington, he is volunteering in the community. Known only as the “Batman of Bloomington,” he works at local shelters and events, all while staying true to his superhero persona. Though he keeps his identity a secret, he shares his mission of kindness and inspiration through social media. Correspondent Mackenzie Lionberger has the story.
