Monroe County Board of Commissioners

The Monroe County Board of Commissioners held a public hearing on November 7th regarding an interest in Bean Blossom Township joining the Monroe County Fire Protection District. County Attorney Jeff Cockerill provided an overview of the proposal.

Dave Jenner, a local resident, urged the county to help negotiate with the Town of Ellettsville.

Bean Blossom Township Resident Kirk Davis said that he felt the process was hurried and that it could impact residents’ taxes. Cockerill also responded to Davis’ concern about how the county could notify residents in a more impactful way.

After about 20 minutes of public comment from property owners, Cockerill informed residents that Bean Blossom Township won’t be able join the Fire Protection District until 2027.
