But first, your local headlines:
Bloomington Utilities Service Board
At the August 26th meeting of the Utilities Service Board, the board voted to approve the appointment of Katherine Zaiger as the Utilities Director.
Zaiger had been working as the Interim Utilities Director after Vic Kelson was let go during the new mayoral administration appointment changes.
The appointment of Zaiger comes after the Utility Department had to issue a water boil advisory.
Board Member Kirk White asked for an update on the boil water advisory, and what they can do moving forward to ensure utility customers are properly informed. He asked Zaiger to update them about “the good, the bad, and what we can do better.”
Zaiger responded, and explained how the error occurred, and what they are doing to ensure it doesn’t happen again.
Board President Megan Parmenter shared that she got her information from the Monroe County alert system and encouraged members of the public to sign up for it.
The Utilities Service Board will meet again on September 9th.
