You’re listening to WFHB Rewind, where we bring you highlights from the week—and sometimes hidden gems you might have missed.
Stay with us for a blend of thoughtful storytelling, vibrant interviews, and the unexpected moments that bring our airwaves to life. This is WFHB Rewind.
Featured Segments:
On Monday, April, 14th, 2025 we welcomed Sam Blasucci and his band to the Firehouse. Sam is best known as one half of Mapache, a Southern California roots-rock duo just as instantly recognizable for their elegant, intertwined guitar parts as they are for their devoted, Nudie-Suit wearing fanbase. Sam chatted with host, Adriane Pontecorvo about his 2024 album, Real Life Thing, life on the road, and more. We turn now to that interview and a portion of that performance on WFHB Rewind.
Up next – on May 17th, 2025 a parking lot in downtown Bloomington was transformed into a printmaking festival. Organized by Badknees and Hideout Press, The Mini Midwest Print Fest invited printmakers from all over the Midwest to share their work. Youth Radio News Correspondent Shefar Rafiul attended the event to talk with the artists and organizers about different printmaking techniques.
On October 20th, 2024, local country/honkey tonk band LeRoy McQueen and Thee Vatos Supreme joined us for a Local Live Session. Thee Vatos Supreme will open at WFHB Past and Present: 50 Years of the Bloomington Community Radio Project – which will take place Thursday, July 10th at the Bluebird. We turn now to that conversation with host, Steve Philbeck and hear a bit of their performance live in the studio.
And now – from the WFHB News Department – Annabelle Vosmeier, who is the guest curator for a new exhibit at the Monroe County History Center, joined our public affairs program BloomingOUT two weeks ago. The exhibit highlights the 50th anniversary of the passage of Ordinance 75-67, Bloomington’s first Gay Rights Amendment. According to the history center, Vosmeier takes a deep look at the debate around the ordinance and the legal ramifications for the Human Rights Commission in Bloomington. Vosmeier is also the Human Rights Administrative Assistant for the City of Bloomington.
