Maryland Governor Wes Moore has  declared  a state of emergency to address the economic impacts of the federal government shutdown.

A Thurmont town commissioner will serve probation following assault and sex offense charges tied to a 2024 incident involving a 12-year-old student. 

With statewide elections coming up next year, the Maryland State Board of Elections has introduced  its "Defenders of Democracy" initiative
