What a Limiting Belief Actually Is (with Clare Tinsley)

Listen Later

A limiting belief is invisible to the person carrying it. It feels less like a belief and more like a plain fact, so you rarely question it, and it quietly decides what you think is possible.

In this episode I sit down with my friend Clare Tinsley, a mindset and limiting-beliefs expert, to talk about how these beliefs form, why they hide in plain sight, and how they show up around money. We connect her work on mindset with my Financial Attachment Styles and the emotional patterns underneath how we earn, save, and spend.

In this episode:

  • What a limiting belief actually is, and why people push back the moment you name one
  • Why your beliefs are invisible to you, and how the people around you keep them in place
  • How money beliefs form in childhood, in some cases by around age two
  • The first step to change, which is smaller than you expect: hope, and the question "how could this be different for me?"
  • Moving from hope to belief to knowing
  • The gratitude reframe: you can have twelve dollars in your account and still choose not to call yourself broke
  • Catching scarcity in real time and returning to "I'm the creator, not a victim"
  • Why emotional regulation, not control, is the real goal with money
