There are few words as prevalent in the Christian vocabulary as “sin.” Sin, we’ve been told, is a very serious matter, grievous, offensive to God. We’ve also been told that people who don’t acknowledge their sin, can’t be forgiven. But what does “sin” really mean as God defines it? And what is a faithful response when I see sin in me or in the world around me?
