Our next guests have launched a new report on the emotional, social, and psychological well-being of the boy child in South Africa. The “State of the Boy Child” report is a powerful national mirror—one that reveals both crisis and opportunity. The data is clear: boys are not only willing to change, they are desperate for the chance to do so. In the report, mentors recorded a rise in emotional intelligence with an 86% increase in emotional openness among boys. Between 2022 and 2024, “What About The Boys” programme has reached over 60,000 boys and 180 schools with active participants. The report has noted that 81% of teachers saw better class participation and a 67% reduction in incidents of bullying. Our next guests argue that by investing in raising better men; we are investing in a safer and more empathetic South Africa.
