I've heard this question multiple times so I'm happy to reply to it properly in this podcast.

The real honest answer is basically...at any age, really...

It's just down to the parents to judge when too early is too early and whether they'd be happy to throw their kid into this powerful beast.

I'm not sure at what age I'd start my kid on a kart, probably at like 3 or so if I notice they're quite fearless and actually want to drive something.
