What AI, the Dot-Com Bubble, and Philosophy Teach Us About Governance

Listen Later

My first takeaway from reading the AI Governance Professional (AIGP) Body of Knowledge is this: AI adoption is not primarily a technology challenge. It is a leadership, governance, and organizational readiness challenge.
Recently, while participating in the Microsoft Learn for Educators (MSLE) Generative AI Bootcamp, I developed AI Agents and came away with an important realization: An Agent is only as effective as the knowledge, policies, processes, and governance that underpin it. AI cannot compensate for weak governance, unclear decision-making, or poorly designed processes.
I was also fascinated to learn that organizations once dismissed philosophy as an impractical field of study. Today, leading AI labs are hiring philosophers, ethicists, and policy experts to help answer one of the most important questions in AI:
How should AI behave?
In my latest video, I share my reflections on:
βœ… Why AI is different from previous technology waves
βœ… What responsible AI really means
βœ… Why governance must come before Agentic AI
βœ… The surprising role of philosophy in the future of AI
