Perhaps you turn to food when you are not physically hungry. You aren't alone if you do this, it is really common. It's often called 'comfort eating' but I think a better description would be 'discomfort eating' as it is an attempt to suppress an uncomfortable feeling. It may work briefly as a tactic for a momentary fix, but it tends to lead to more unhappiness long term. In this episode I suggest ways you might interrupt that urge to emotionally eat.
