Overview: Absalom leads the hearts of the people away from David to himself over time which forced David, and those loyal to him, to flee. They run to a land that is dry - thirsty. Ps. 63 was written while David was on the run from Absalem. David describes his spiritual condition in vs. 1. His whole being is screaming for fellowship w-God. David is earnestly searching for God. This is a psalm of pure transparency from David. In vs. 2, David reminds himself about God in the past. David forces himself to look past his current circumstances by reminding himself about God's loving-kindness in the past. David recognizes that God's loving-kindness is better than life itself which motivates him to praise God even though his circumstances haven't changed. David resolves, in a humble attitude, to worship God w-his remaining life, regardless the length. David confesses he yearns for God- not relief, not physical needs met, but for God Himself who well satisfies his soul even though his physical needs were still great. David developed a thirst for God - an early age while attending sheep. Over the years he learned to yearn only for God when he was thirsty.
