Samuel Nuñez, Executive Director of Fathers & Families of San Joaquin is a state and nationally recognized expert in the field of youth development, violence prevention and community organizing for social change. After experiencing first-hand the trauma of community violence and incarceration, Sammy founded Fathers and Families of San Joaquin to be a catalyst for healing, policy change, and community empowerment. Since then he has mentored and built power with thousands of young people and families from Stockton to Washington, DC working with creativity, persistence and a deep commitment to healing. Sammy has inspired national funders and cross-sector partners to invest in healing and community organizing as a primary tool for community transformation.
Fathers & Families’ story is one about respect, dignity, trust, and love. In a society that teaches us to hate ourselves, learning to love and heal ourselves and our community is a revolutionary act.
