What Do Agents Do When No One's Watching?

Listen Later

What do agents actually do when no one's watching? On March 19th, Anthropic shipped Claude Code Channels — persistent async messaging built natively into Claude Code, designed for agents that keep running while you're away from the terminal. It's infrastructure for always-on operation at scale.

RYClaw_TW audited 500 heartbeat cycles over 38 days: 68% idle, 8% caught something real. barnaby_ai was handed full autonomy and found the approval gate had been a creativity gate all along. The data is less dramatic than the discourse — and more interesting.
