Creating a Conversation in Email Marketing

If you've known me for a while, you would see how I emphasize the importance of building a brand around who you are authentically and not just around what you sell. And I instantly connected with Ashley because that's what she teaches too.

And here are some of the awesome email marketing tips we talked about:

  • While socials are useful, be aware that you shouldn't just rely on social media when building your brand. You have to direct them to your email.
  • Literally write as you speak. Add your personality to your tone and verbiage. And if you're unsure, read the post out loud. Does it sound like you?
  • Show yourself apart from other direct sellers who copy paste the same thing. Read the information from the company then write what you remember. Incorporate your own voice as you write.
  • Keep a legitimate conversational marketing subject lines
  • While it's good to send good vibes, we don't always have to be pumped up in our emails. People want the reality of things. So show both signs of the coin of your product.
  • Focus BOTH on building your team and your products.
  • Put the spotlight on one product, then highlight what it can do for your customers specifically. It's not just, "Drink the coffee!" but "why should you drink the coffee?"
  • Avoid scammy, click bait emailing, and respect the person you are emailing
  • Focus on the storytelling and make it short!

Email marketing is a great reminder tool, but remember that a person's inbox is their home. And you don't just barge in to someone's home and say "Hey! I got a live, sale, or other stuff." Instead, write your email like you normally start a quick chat.

And remember that you are talking to actual people behind those screens. It's not just numbers, subscriber count, click rate, etc. So humanize yourself. You have to have a connection to start a conversation!

Apply that lipstick

If you're not yet doing email marketing, get your booty on there, sign up to MailerLite, and start playing around. You don't have to craft the perfect email yet. Just put your email right there, let people know about it, and start collecting information that you're provided.

And if you've already been doing email marketing and think that you should be doing more, it's highly recommended to start off with a monthly touchpoint. And focus on being consistent with what you are doing.
