Our culture's popular understanding of karma fails us—every time! Karma summarizes the laws of cause and effect, so that we get exactly what we deserve! Do you love God with your whole mind, soul, and strength? Do you love your neighbor as yourself? Are you as perfect in showing mercy as God (Luke 6:35-36)? Measured by Law, we deserve only death and Hell. We need a Savior!

God’s assessment of what we deserve is both accurate and based in a different calculus: He measures us not with the law, but with grace. He measures us not by what we have done, but who we were created to be. We were created to show his goodness and kindness to the world!

Will we respond with faith, believing in his goodness and mercy, and so reflect his image in our dealings with all others? Or will we remain trapped within karma—within the laws of cause and effect? Our only hope is to ask for his mercy, and gladly express this to all others!
