Throughout scripture, God has anointed the seemingly insignificant. In Exodus 4 God asked Moses to use what he had in his hand at the time–his staff. In 2 Kings 4:2, the Shunammite woman offers Elisha the single jar of oil in her home. In Judges 3: 31, Shamgar rescued Israel by using an ox goad, the only resource he had available. It’s easy to focus on what we don’t have, but when we shift our focus on what we do have and use the resources God has already provided, our praise in the waiting can bridge the gap between the breaking and a miraculous breakthrough.
