Summary

Today on Biriyani for Thought, we asked the question “Why are Apple products so expensive?” in response to the launch of the iPhone 15 series and accessories. We compare competitor products, their pricing and the differentiation of Apple products from others in the market. We discussed the concept of paying for software in addition to the hardware when purchasing an Apple product, and the lifetime of a product based on its software and security updates. We extended our conversation with a spotlight on Apple’s premium subscriptions, and brought a general focus to the subscription-heavy nature of the current software landscape.
