What do you want?
November 11, 2018
Please turn in your Bibles to John 1:35-51
“These things are recorded in order that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name.” John 20:31
V 37: When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus (Not poor John). Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, “What do you want?” They said, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?”
1: What do you want? (V 38)
V 37-38a: When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus (Not poor John). 38 Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, “What do you want?”
App: What do you want, really?
2: What’s Different About You? (V 42)
When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that
they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished, and
they took note that these men had been with Jesus. Acts 4:13
• What name might currently best describe you?
• What new name might God have in store for you?
3: What’s it all about? (V 51, ref. Genesis 28:12)
Two things John wants us to know
1: Jesus is the connection between heaven and earth
2: Jesus is the place where we can now meet God (see John 3:19-21)
What is God’s Spirit speaking into your life today?
How must you respond?
