What Does a Guardian Ad Litem Do?

Each season series examines responses to domestic violence in Winnebago County&nbsp; &nbsp;Illinois, through the eyes of the host, Laura Youngblut.&nbsp; Season 1 provides listeners with an overview of the response to intimate partner domestic violence in Winnebago County. Each episode highlights a person, describes their role, and provides perspectives on domestic violence. Through these first-hand accounts, listeners will gain insight into common questions and assumptions about the criminal justice system.&nbsp; Season 2 provides listeners with insight into the workings of the Juvenile Court System, both Juvenile Abuse and Neglect Court and Juvenile Deliquency Court.&nbsp; Listeners will learn with Laura as she unpacks the intersection between domestic violence and juvenile court, including the impact of trauma on children.&nbsp; This project was supported by Grant No. 2017-TA-AX-K004 awarded by the Office on Violence Against Women, US Department of Justice.
