We are often told that there’s nothing wrong with us when we express that mentally we are going through something. We are often told to pray, told to read the bible OR ‘drink some tea’. Black men suffer mentally in silence because they’re told to be strong and it’s not manly to show emotions. Black women are told ‘this is what being a woman is about, so suck it up buttercup’. But at what point can we cry? Who can we speak to? When does our mental health matter?
