What does healing look like?

Listen Later

We overcomplicate life when we create a separation from who we are by fixating on what happened to us. We create such disconnects within ourselves through many innocent and well-intentioned strategies that are supposed to make life easier and more bearable, but instead, it creates a deeply ingrained sense of angst that contaminates our peace.

Understanding why something or someone impacted you as much as it did, or still does, is the answer to your need for healing from the experience. But this becomes impossible to achieve if we don’t even know why we are who we are, or worse, if we have no informed opinions about ourselves that are independent of what we think others think of us.

Sounds exhausting? It is. This is the energy thief that leaves us spent before the day starts, or leaves us worn down despite experiencing a noteworthy accomplishment.

When we understand what we took from life, from love, or from our important relationships, we give ourselves something tangible to work with in unravelling the secrets that shape who we are and how we experience life.

In this episode, I unpack the many facets that we lose sight of regarding who we are. I also discuss the problems with the inner child concept, the struggle for body, mind, and soul balance, and other myths that have become accepted as collective wisdom.
