I am really proud to be Canadian. I am EXTREMELY grateful for the privilege I have as the first generation in my family lineage to be born Canadian.
βΊοΈ I recognize that I am a settler currently living on the Wet'suwet'en territories in Houston, B.C. I am saddened by our history and the trauma it has caused on the First Nation people and their families.
π€² I acknowledge there is work for reconciliation to be done during this time. I am grateful that I am a working-class, bi-racial, Canadian woman with the opportunity to follow her dreams, create wealth so that she can take care of her family, and contribute an impact on this world.
π I hope this video of my family's journey to Canada, and my reflections on the work I am trying to do to understand what it means to be Canadian, brings some sunshine into any areas of heaviness that today may arise.
With love and gratitude,
Ann Marie
