I wanted to further explore the idea of "being in shape", a phrase I had used in my previous episode, because I felt it was ambiguous and fraught with assumptions. In preparation for this episode I read the book Body Respect by Linda Bacon and Lucy Aphramor, which deals with misconceptions around fatness and health. I offer commentary on the books core concepts, and how fitness relates to the field of archaeology. Bottom line: the notion of being in shape does not mean one has to conform to a particular shape or size!
