A #scrummaster is often defined as a servant leader.   

Someone who serves the #scrumteam and plays a leading role in how successfully the team are able to adopt and deploy #scrum.  

They also serve the organisation by helping the scrum team develop or create products and features that truly delight customers.  

A scrum master works to create an environment where the team can excel. They also work to create teams that are self-organising and autonomous rather than the old project manager driven structure of project management.  

It can be tough to achieve because a Scrum Master operates with a lot of influence but very little in the way of authority.  

Because of that, Scrum Masters must earn respect in the environment and act as powerful servant leaders that use coaching, facilitation and a host of people-oriented techniques to achieve the goals and objectives of both the scrum team as well as the organisation.  

It's a tough gig.
