What Does the Bible Say about Forgiveness?-Episode #11

Listen Later

Forgiveness can be so hard, especially when we have been deeply hurt or we are just plain angry.  Today we will be discussing what it means to forgive, how we can go about doing so, and what the Bible says about it.

This week’s memory verse is Ephesians 4:32 where it says, “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”  We often compare our situation to something or someone else, justifying it, feeling like we deserve a certain response or a certain feeling before you can forgive someone.  Instead, the only one we should be looking to is Jesus and the example He has already set for us.  Just as we are forgiven through Christ, we are called to forgive others, and what a huge burden is lifted once we surrender and let God take over our hearts.

This week’s call to action is to ask yourself, is there anyone I need to forgive?  Or do I need to forgive myself for something I have done?  Dig into his word, focusing on the unconditional love of Christ and how he calls us to forgive others.  Ask God to open your eyes and heart to His redeeming love as you encounter people and situations, especially those that bring up hard feelings.
